The Maryland Recycling Act

The Maryland Recycling Act is in place to make sure the state of Maryland is diverting enough waste to either be recycled or reused.  Each county in the state has a certain percent to hit depending on the amount of residents.  New updates are used every time  a better solution to save the environment comes up, so many people are part of the process.

Stories

Maryland has waste diversion goals to meet annually. The Maryland Recycling Act requires each county or city to recycle at least 15-20 percent by volume of waste. If these standards aren’t help, there are consequences

Recycling May not help Maryland’s deficit. Many people don’t realize the cost of recycling. There are intensive processes to get materials separated from waste. Is saving the environment digging the state deeper into debt?

The new Secretary of the environment has many ideas for the future of Maryland’s recycling programs and environmental cleanup. Dr. Summers as an addition to the environmental team will bring about new revisions to the Maryland Recycling Act.
